Participants will receive an overview of the Canadian food labeling regulations, with guidance on where to find information online. The session will include a step-by-step walkthrough of developing a sample label, addressing key components such as ingredient lists, nutrition facts, and bilingual requirements. Attendees will leave with a practical label development checklist , equipping them with the tools to confidently create compliant labels for their products. 

Biography

Anu Bernier is a dedicated consultant at Food Safety Solutions, where she has been making an impact since 2021. Food Safety Solutions helps food and beverage companies implement customized food safety management systems to meet their regulatory and customer requirements. FSS specializes in working closely with small businesses to enable them to access new markets, protect their brand integrity and build consumer confidence.

Anu holds a Masters Degree in Plant Biology from the University of Alberta and has over 10 years in quality assurance and extensive experience developing and implementing food safety systems across sectors like pet food, dairy, bakery, beverages, confectionary, and cannabis. Anu is well versed in GFSI standards such as BRCGS, SQF, and FSSC 22000 and is in the final steps of qualifying as a BRCGS Food Auditor. Anu has expertise in creating food labels that meet Canadian regulations. Fluent in English and French, she effectively supports her clients in achieving compliance and meeting their goals.
