Safeguarding Food: A Practical Guide to SFCR Traceability

Workshop: Thursday, November 28. 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

This workshop will help businesses understand the CFIA Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) for Traceability. These regulations apply to a broad scope of food and beverage companies in Canada, and require tracking of food one step forward and one step back in the supply chain. An effective traceability system helps reduce recall costs by narrowing the scope to only risky products, protects consumers from health hazards, and increases consumer trust in the safety of the food. Attendees will learn about the Traceability regulations and what is required for traceability records. Key takeaways include how to select a lot code to meet the CFIA requirements, and how to document traceability information at each step of the process.
